Oxford University Enhanced Support
Since 1994, SMS Software staff have worked in over 20 colleges and departments, and have an in-depth knowledge of IT at the University. We are familiar with the technical details of the network, the rules and regulations associated with them, and the numerous ways in which departments, colleges and university offices interact. Stuart Sharp, the Director of SMS Software, has served on a number of University bodies helping to determine IT Policy and promote the skills of IT Support Staff and increase the resources available to them. He is currently working with the ISIDORE (student records) and DCOCE (digital certificate authentication) working parties, advising on the technical and user requirements for both projects.
Because of our experience working in the University, we can quickly diagnosis problems and know whom to liaise with on issues that extend beyond a single college or department.
Training Oxford IT Support Staff
Over the last ten years, SMS Software staff have trained dozens of Oxford University IT Support Staff working in colleges and departments. We can help IT Support Staff who are new to Oxford learn where to find the resources they need and link them up with the many informal networks of mutual support within the University. We can also advise them on which technologies are common within Oxford, and which ones might pose problems. We can also provide training for technologies required in their new job.
